How acupuncture can improve your sex life

How acupuncture can improve your sex life

In Western medicine, doctors treat issues like low sex drive, difficulty reaching orgasm, or impotence as problems related to the sex organs or sexual function. Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a very different approach.

According to the Chinese, sexuality is influenced by physical, psychological, and spiritual factors. The mind and body are seen as holistic which means everything needs to be working in harmony for fulfilling sex to happen. If you’re experiencing sexual health problems, it’s because energy blockages are causing disharmony. This is where acupuncture comes in. Ultra-thin needles are inserted in various points of the body to restore balance and enhance the flow of sexual energy.

This effective, holistic approach is why many people turn to acupuncture when Western medicine fails to solve their problems. In fact, acupuncture is one of the most common natural therapies used to treat sexual health issues.

If your sex life needs a boost, check out these three ways acupuncture can help out in the bedroom.

1) It relaxes you

Stress can kill your sex life. Whether you’re nervous about a first date or in a marriage where sex is the last priority, it’s most likely you’re stressed out and not in the right frame of mind to experience satisfying sex.

On the other hand, it’s much easier to have great sex when you’re relaxed and content. Acupuncture relaxes you by reducing levels of cortisol, a stress hormone. It takes your body out of flight-or-flight mode and into the preferably rest-and-digest state. Acupuncture also produces a cumulative effect over time. This means you’ll stay in a state of relaxed bliss long after your treatments are finished.

2) It improves libido

A low libido is usually caused by an energy imbalance in the kidney system. The kidneys are considered to be the root of reproduction, birth, and sexuality. Acupuncture can increase energy flow to this area, thus increasing arousal and sexual desire. It also improves blood and oxygen flow to the genital area which stimulates a woman’s natural lubricating abilities and enhances vaginal pleasure.

3) It helps you achieve better orgasms

The liver system is responsible for moving energy smoothly throughout the body, including the genital area. When the liver is not functioning properly, energy becomes stuck or stagnated. If you have trouble reaching orgasm, it’s most likely because energy has not been able to get to the right areas. To fix this, acupuncture needles are used to break up stagnation, allowing you to achieve orgasms more easily and frequently.

Our acupuncturists are Burnaby’s holistic health experts. They have helped countless patients overcome a variety of sexual health issues and it’s very likely they can help you too.
