WorkSafe Physiotherapy

FAQs for WorkSafe Physiotherapy at Royal Treatment Therapeutics

1) I got into an accident at work. What should I do?

If you suffered from a work-related injury, you should immediately report it to your employer and WorkSafeBC (call 1-888-967-5377).

WorkSafeBC (WSBC) will issue you a claim number. Once you have your number, please contact us to book an appointment with our Registered Physiotherapists.

Your initial treatment will be covered by WSBC while your claim is pending for approval.

2) DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S NOTE IN ORDER TO GET TREATMENT?

A doctor’s referral is not necessary for treatment, but we do recommend that you see your doctor for a medical assessment as well, inform them of your condition and progress.

3) WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED TO PROVIDE AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?

  1. WSBC claim number
  2. Date of Injury
  3. Case Manager info (if you have it)
  4. PHN (Personal Health Number, aka Care Card)

4) DO I NEED TO PAY FOR THE TREATMENTS?

As long as you have a claim number, your initial treatment is covered by WSBC. Once your claim has been approved, you are eligible for 6 weeks of physiotherapy treatments.

If your claim is denied, your appointments will be changed to regular physiotherapy treatments and you will be charged for those sessions. We will issue new receipts and if you have extended health insurance, you will be able to submit the claims to the insurer.

NOTE: Please follow up with your Case Manager if your claim is still pending. They many need to discuss your claim before approving any treatments.

5) WHAT IF MY INJURY ISN’T RECENT?

WSBC requires pre-approval for claims that are within 90 days of your injury date. If you are past 90 days, we will need to obtain your claim information and call your case manager to confirm approval.

We will also ask that you book a Discovery Visit (a complimentary consultation) with the physiotherapist to determine the status of your condition.

Please note, we cannot book your treatment as WorkSafe without approval from WSBC. If you require treatment, your session will be booked as a regular physiotherapy session.
