ICBC Treatments in South Burnaby

Car accidents are stressful. Recovery shouldn’t be.

ICBC Treatments for Vehicle Collision Injuries

As of April 1, 2019, ICBC automatically covers the following number of treatments for the first 12 weeks after you have sustained injuries from a car accident:

A doctor’s referral is not necessary for starting treatment unless the accident occurred over three months ago or if you are requesting more than the allotted coverage. It doesn’t matter who is at fault for the crash – all parties involved are eligible for medical benefits including drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists.

What steps are required to start an ICBC treatment program?

1) CONTACT ICBC

If you have been injured in a car crash, please contact ICBC and report a claim as soon as possible. You can submit claims online or by calling 604-520-8222 (Vancouver) and 1-800-910-4222 (toll-free). Claims can be made 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You will need the following information to make a claim:

  • License plate numbers of the vehicles involved
  • Driver’s license numbers of both drivers
  • Insurance information if vehicles are not insured by ICBC
  • Your preferred repair facility if you are unable to drive your vehicle (optional)
  • Police file number (if applicable)

It takes one business day for an ICBC claims adjuster to review your claim. The adjuster may give you a call if they require additional information. Once your claim is processed, you’ll get an email with your ICBC insurance claim number. You will need to give your healthcare providers this number before treatment commences.

2) START A TREATMENT PLAN

It’s important to seek treatment within a few days of your accident as this will speed up your recovery time. Our physiotherapists, acupuncturists, registered massage therapists and chiropractor are ready to help you bounce back from injury as quick as possible.

  • Personalized Care Plans
Your practitioner will work with you to create a tailored and all-inclusive treatment plan based on your specific goals. The custom care plan also includes lifestyle coaching and home exercises so you can feel confident managing your symptoms.
  • Direct Billing and No User Fees
Leave the paperwork to us. We direct bill to ICBC and don’t collect user fees so you don’t have to worry about out-of-pocket charges.

3) SEE YOUR DOCTOR

You don’t have to see a doctor before starting treatment for soft tissue injuries, however it’s best to visit shortly after your accident so your doctor has a record of your injuries. Having your injuries on file may play an important role when it comes to the settlement of your claim.

You may need more treatments than the prescribed amount depending on your condition. If this is the case, your doctor will have to provide a referral and report for additional coverage to be approved.
