Orthotic Assessments
What are Custom Foot Orthotics?
Custom Foot Orthotics are devices that can be made to fit inside your shoes which help control biomechanical abnormalities. They do so by gently bringing your foot and ankle into their most efficient alignment. Orthotics provide support for the foot by redistributing ground reaction forces as well as realigning foot joints while standing, walking, or running.
They are used by everyone, from athletes to the elderly, to reduce or eliminate biomechanical deformities. Custom Foot Orthotics can also help with a variety of soft tissue inflammatory conditions, such as plantar fasciitis, and even reduce knee, back, and hip pain. Essentially, Custom Foot Orthotics help to offload high pressure areas and support your feet in working the way they are meant to work, thus decreasing the pain we get in our bodies.
What does an Orthotics Assessment entail?
Custom Foot Orthotics are designed for each individual after a thorough biomechanical examination. During an Orthotic Assessment visit, your chiropractor will perform a gait analysis and check your foot joints alignment. After assessment, your foot samples will be taken and sent for custom production of the inserts. The orthotics are usually ready within 2 weeks. Please check with your extended health benefits plan to see what is required before your assessment.
